Spring Valley Apartment Fire: Neighbors Rescue Unconscious Woman

Neighbors rescued an unconscious woman from a fire at Surrey Carlton Apartments in Spring Valley on Monday night. The fire, which started around 9:30 p.m. in the attic, also injured a firefighter with falling debris. Both the woman and the firefighter were hospitalized but are expected to recover.

The blaze resulted in extensive damage to two apartments and displaced about 50 families due to a cutoff in gas service. This incident marks the second fire at the complex in two months, following a recent shooting event.

Local authorities praised the rapid response of volunteers and the assistance of Rockland County EMS coordinators. An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
