Winter Weather Advisory Issued for Rockland County This Weekend

Rockland County is gearing up for another bout of winter weather, with a Winter Weather Advisory set to take effect from Saturday (Shabbos), February 15, through Sunday, February 16. In anticipation of the storm, the Rockland County, local towns, and village highway departments are actively preparing for the expected 2 to 4 inches of snowfall, which will be followed by a wintry mix and eventually transition into rain.

According to the latest forecast, snow is expected to begin late Saturday morning or early afternoon, around 11 AM to 12 PM. The snowfall will continue into the evening before transitioning into sleet or a wintry mix after 10 PM to 11 PM. Some areas, particularly higher elevations such as Sloatsburg and Tuxedo Park, may experience periods of freezing rain overnight.

By 6 AM to 7 AM on Sunday, the precipitation is expected to transition fully into rain, which will persist through the afternoon before tapering off in the evening. Total snowfall accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are expected, with some localized areas potentially reaching 3.5 inches. Additionally, ice accretions of up to 0.05 inches may occur, increasing the risk of slippery road conditions.

The Rockland County, local towns, and village highway departments has assured residents that road crews will be on standby, ready to respond as needed. Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling, as roads may become hazardous due to snow, ice, and freezing rain.
