Who Fixes The Potholes? Here’s Who To Call In Ramapo

As pothole season ramps up, drivers across Ramapo are already navigating rough road conditions. With freezing temperatures, plowing, and constant traffic, small cracks quickly turn into massive craters.

The following information was provided directly by the Town of Ramapo Highway Department to ensure residents know exactly who to call, where and when, in order to speed up the repair process and avoid confusion.


Town Of Ramapo Highway Department

The Town Highway Department maintains roads in unincorporated Ramapo, as well as in the villages that contract with the Town for road maintenance, including:

  • Montebello

  • Chestnut Ridge

  • Kaser

  • New Square

  • Pomona

  • Wesley Hills

  • New Hempstead

If you are on a locally maintained road in those areas and it is not listed under State or County jurisdiction below, contact:

Important: The Town of Ramapo does not perform road repairs in the villages of Airmont, Spring Valley, or Suffern, as those municipalities do not contract with the Town for highway services. Residents in those villages should contact their respective village offices directly for pothole complaints.


New York State Department of Transportation (State DOT)

The following major roadways are maintained and repaired by the State. The Town of Ramapo does not repair potholes at these locations.

Rockland County Highway Department

The following roads are maintained, plowed, salted, and repaired by the County Highway Department. The Town of Ramapo does not repair potholes at these locations.
