WESLEY HILLS: Update & Reminder: Grandview Avenue Gas Line Replacement Project Set To Begin June 26

Residents are reminded that Orange & Rockland’s major gas main replacement project on Grandview Avenue is scheduled to begin on or around June 26, with construction expected to continue through the fall.

As previously reported by Monsey Scoop, the project will replace aging gas infrastructure along Grandview Avenue and Forshay Road.

The project will start near the Route 306 intersection and proceed west along Grandview Avenue to Willow Tree Road. Crews will install approximately 8,500 feet of new gas main infrastructure as part of a $4.1 million investment aimed at improving the safety, reliability, and performance of the local natural gas system.

In addition to trenching work, the project will include tie-ins on several side streets and the replacement or transfer of approximately 62 gas service lines to homes and businesses along the route. Property owners affected by service transfers will be contacted directly by O&R to schedule the work.

Motorists should expect traffic impacts throughout the project. Sections of Grandview Avenue may be temporarily closed during excavation activities, with detours routed via Willow Tree Road. Emergency vehicles and school buses will continue to have access, and flaggers and other traffic-control measures will be in place.

Village officials noted that some portions of the project may require excavation on private property. O&R stated that all disturbed areas will be restored, including grass reseeding and repairs to impacted surfaces. A dedicated inspector will be onsite throughout construction.

The project is expected to take approximately 140 to 150 working days to complete, weather permitting.
