Thousands of Skverer boys lined the New Square streets on Monday to bid farewell to the Skvere Rebbe as he departed for his annual, nearly four-week stay in Malibu. The Rebbe is scheduled to depart later today from Teterboro Airport, with a brief stop in Boston before continuing on to California.
A notable sight during the send-off was the emphasis on safety: nearly all of the children could be seen wearing reflective strips on their coats, the result of a cheder initiative that rewards students for using proper safety reflectors, an effort widely praised by community members.
