The Village of Spring Valley has formally reached out to the Town of Ramapo requesting one-time snow removal and salting assistance following the recent winter storm and the Village’s January 25 emergency declaration.
In a letter dated January 27, Mayor Schneley Vital requested that the Town provide incidental snow removal and salting services within the Village. The request was reviewed by the Village Board of Trustees, and a majority of the Board agreed to move forward with the proposed arrangement.
Under the terms outlined in the letter, the Village of Spring Valley would hold the Town of Ramapo harmless and indemnify it from any liability arising from the snow removal and salting operations performed on the Village’s behalf. The Village also agreed to compensate the Town for services rendered, based on invoices submitted, with costs not to exceed $25,000.
The agreement further states that the Village Board will adopt a formal resolution at its next regularly scheduled meeting to memorialize the arrangement. Final operational details will require approval by the Mayor of Spring Valley and will be governed by the conditions set forth in the agreement.
The letter was addressed to Town Supervisor Michael Specht, and expressed appreciation for the Town of Ramapo’s cooperation and consideration during the storm response and cleanup efforts.
