Village of Nyack Announces Launch of New Downtown Safety Patrol

The Village of Nyack has announced the launch of the new Nyack Safety Patrol, which will begin regular foot patrols in the downtown area this week.

The patrol is operated by Platinum Security Group, a Nanuet-based firm led by Bert Venner, who brings over two decades of experience in professional security services. Platinum’s team is fully trained, insured, and vetted in coordination with the Village’s insurance consultant. The company is also partnering with Koz Security Services, led by Mike Kozlin, a well-known figure among local businesses.

According to village officials, the initiative aims to enhance public safety and strengthen the sense of security in downtown Nyack, at the Marina, and in Memorial Park. Patrol members will not carry weapons or perform police duties but will serve as a visible, approachable presence and provide extra “eyes and ears” for the Orangetown Police Department.

Village Administrator Andy Stewart joined a recent walk-through with Mayor Don Hammond and Kozlin to meet business owners and introduce the new program. Patrol members will wear distinctive vests to ensure they are easily recognizable to residents and visitors.

Community members are encouraged to greet patrol officers and report any non-emergency concerns. For emergencies or criminal activity, residents should continue to call 911 or Orangetown Police at 845-359-3700.
