The Village of New Square has announced that road repaving work will begin Tuesday, September 22, on several sections where a new drainage system was recently installed. The work will include the intersection of Lincoln Avenue and Jefferson Avenue, as well as Jefferson Avenue from Lincoln Avenue to Ostereh Boulevard.
Work is expected to continue through Friday afternoon, Erev Sukkos. Village officials acknowledged that the project is taking place during the busy Erev Yom Tov period, explaining that the contractor must meet a deadline requiring the affected sections to be completed by Sukkos.
Officials said efforts are being made to keep road closures as short as possible, with additional traffic controllers being provided to help motorists navigate the area. Residents and motorists are asked to cooperate with traffic restrictions and not to park in designated areas beginning Motzei Yom Kippur and continuing until the work is completed, including overnight.
