Village of New Hempstead Announces McNamara Road Sidewalk Project

The Village of New Hempstead has announced that construction of a new sidewalk along McNamara Road will begin on July 6, 2026, as part of the village’s ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility.

According to village officials, the sidewalk will be installed along the even-numbered side of McNamara Road between East Willow Tree Road and New Hempstead Road. The project is designed to enhance safety for pedestrians, improve accessibility, and strengthen neighborhood infrastructure.

The project was made possible largely through Community Project Funding secured by Congressman Mike Lawler, part of a broader effort that has brought federal investments to infrastructure and quality-of-life projects in communities throughout Rockland County and across the 17th congressional district.

Mayor Abe Sicker said the village is committed to completing the work as efficiently as possible while minimizing disruptions to residents. Officials acknowledged that construction may cause temporary inconveniences and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation throughout the project.

The Village of New Hempstead said updates will be provided as work progresses.
