The Village of Airmont Board of Trustees voted at its meeting Friday to approve the process for construction of new sidewalks along Smith Hill Road, marking a significant step toward a long-awaited pedestrian safety improvement.
Village officials said the exact date when construction will begin will be announced in the coming weeks as the project moves into the next phase.
The Village also thanked Congressman Mike Lawler for securing the grant that made the project possible, noting that the funding will help enhance safety and quality of life for residents.
Officials said the sidewalk project reflects the Village’s continued commitment to investing in infrastructure that improves safety and benefits the community. More information, including the construction start date, will be released once finalized.
