Victim Identified in Fatal Hit-and-Run In Haverstraw

In a tragic update to last Friday’s hit-and-run accident, authorities have identified the victim as Dan Deserio, a well-respected member of the Haverstraw community. Deserio was fatally struck by a vehicle while crossing Thiells Mount Ivy Road near the Hillcrest firehouse around 6:30 a.m.

Deserio’s life was marked by over two decades of service as a window washer in Nyack and Piermont, and his earlier years as a route salesman.

The victim is survived by three sons, two grandchildren, and a wide circle of friends.

Authorities say they are continuing to investigate the circumstances of the accident and are appealing to the public for any information that could lead to the identification of the driver involved.
