UPDATE: Substance in Suspicious Envelope Brought to Ramapo Police Station Deemed Harmless; Investigation Underway

The white powder found in a suspicious envelope brought to the Ramapo Police Department Monday evening has been deemed harmless, sources tell Monsey Scoop.

The envelope, delivered to a local resident’s home and later brought to the police station out of caution, prompted a response from the Rockland County Hazmat Team, who confirmed that the substance posed no danger.

Ramapo Police are continuing their investigation to determine how the envelope was delivered and who was behind it. Authorities have not released additional details at this time.

A concerned Ramapo resident brought a suspicious envelope to the Ramapo Police Department on Monday evening just before 7:00 p.m., prompting an immediate response from law enforcement and emergency crews.

Sources tell Monsey Scoop that the envelope which had been delivered to the resident’s home, contained an unknown white powder. Out of an abundance of caution, the item was promptly taken outside the police station, where it is now the focus of an active investigation.

The Rockland County Hazmat Team responded to the scene and is currently working to identify the substance and ensure there is no threat to public safety.
