The Spring Valley Police Department has released additional details regarding a double homicide that took place on Saturday night at an apartment on Gesner Drive.
According to authorities, officers responded to a welfare check at 4 Gesner Drive at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 15. Upon arrival, they discovered two female victims inside the apartment, both suffering from significant head injuries. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Less than 24 hours later, police arrested 19-year-old Alan Abad, also known as Alina Abad, of Westwood, New Jersey. Abad has been charged with first-degree murder and was arraigned before Judge Sweet, who ordered him to be remanded to the Rockland County Jail without bail. Authorities have confirmed that this was not a random attack, as the suspect and victims knew each other. Despite earlier speculation, police have also clarified that no firearms were involved in the incident.
The Spring Valley Police Department continues to investigate the case with assistance from multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department, Rockland County Computer Crimes Unit, Rockland County B.C.I., Suffern Police Department, Haverstraw Police Department, New York State Police, Putnam County Sheriff’s Department, and the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office. Emergency responders from Spring Hill Ambulance Corps and Rockland Paramedics also provided assistance at the scene.
