UPDATE: Ramapo Revises Road Closure Plan After Community Concerns; Grove Street Work to Begin January 12, Saddle River Phase Moved to Pesach {VIDEO}

The Town of Ramapo has announced significant changes to the planned road closure schedule for North Saddle River Road and Grove Street, following community concerns raised after the project was first announced. The update comes one day after Monsey Scoop reported on the initial closure plans.

According to town officials, Supervisor Michael Specht, Chief of Staff Mona Montal, and the Town Highway Superintendent Fred Brinn met Wednesday morning with representatives from Veolia Water to address feedback regarding the project’s phases and scheduling.

As a result of that meeting, the town confirmed that the construction phases have been reorganized. The work scheduled to begin on January 12 will now focus on Grove Street, continuing infrastructure work that began several months ago. This phase will cover Grove Street from North Saddle River Road heading toward the water tank.

Town officials also secured an agreement that the next phase, work along North Saddle River Road from the Grove Street intersection toward West Maple, will be scheduled during the Pesach holiday, a move aimed at minimizing disruption to school transportation and daily traffic.

Additional clarifications were provided to residents: construction crews will work on Saturdays, no work will take place on Fridays, and roads will fully reopen each weekday evening after work concludes at approximately 4:00 p.m., remaining open overnight until work resumes the following morning. Officials emphasized that outside active work hours, all affected roads will be fully passable with no restrictions.

The Town of Ramapo said these adjustments were made to reduce inconvenience to residents while allowing the essential water main and drainage project to move forward. Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring updates as the project progresses.

  1. Move the work for night and weekends. This is putting the entire city on lockdown. Thanks for having Veolia pay our officers…. Won’t help lower our skyrocketing taxes and alleviate the traffic.

  2. A deeper investigation by independent party should be conducted. There are specific interests (and pockets) that this is all about..
