The Ramapo Police Department has released further information regarding the arrest of Roberto Astacio, a 42-year-old Sloatsburg resident, who was charged in connection with a conspiracy to assault and rob a local business employee.
In November 2024, Ramapo detectives initiated an investigation following reports that Astacio had devised a plan targeting the employee. Investigators discovered that Astacio, who is on parole for prior felony offenses, had enlisted the help of accomplices, including a juvenile, to execute the plot.
Through coordinated efforts with the New York State Parole Division, detectives established probable cause for his arrest. Astacio was first remanded to the Rockland County Jail for a parole violation and subsequently charged with Conspiracy in the 4th Degree, Criminal Solicitation in the 4th Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
The Ramapo Police Department reiterated its commitment to ensuring public safety and protecting vulnerable individuals.
