UPDATE: Names Released in State Police Investigation of Trooper-Involved Shooting on The NYS Thruway

The New York State Police have identified the individuals involved in the trooper-involved shooting on January 3, 2024 as reported by Monsey Scoop. 

Troopers Steven J. Missale and Ronald Raymond conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Mercedes E350, matching the description of a suspect vehicle in an Albany attempted homicide case. The driver, Rakim A. Tillery, 35, from Albany, fired at the troopers, who returned fire, resulting in Tillery’s death.

Both troopers, assigned to Troop T, SP Newburgh, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and have been released from the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact SP Middletown at 845-344-5300.
