UPDATE: Haverstraw Police Arrest Man Following Shots Fired Incident in Garnerville

This serves as an update to Monsey Scoop’s initial report regarding Thursday evening’s active investigation in Garnerville.

According to the Haverstraw Police Department, on October 30, 2025, at approximately 6:20 PM, officers responded to reports of shots fired near the Mobil Gas Station on Route 202. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject — identified as Capernicus Yodweyone, 28, of Garnerville, NY — standing in the parking lot of the Foremost Shopping Center next to a vehicle and in close proximity to a shotgun.

Police say their investigation determined that Yodweyone, while standing outside his vehicle, fired multiple rounds from a shotgun directly into his own unoccupied vehicle. Officers quickly took him into custody at the scene, and the weapon was recovered.

Yodweyone has been charged with Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a Class D felony. He remains in custody awaiting arraignment.

Authorities remind the public that a criminal complaint is merely an accusation and that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
