New details have emerged regarding the early morning crash on the Palisades Interstate Parkway on February 17, 2025, as Monsey Scoop reported.
At approximately 4:07 a.m., New York State Police from the Haverstraw barracks responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident on the northbound side of the PIP, between exits 13 and 14 in the town of Haverstraw.
A preliminary investigation determined that a 2018 Toyota, driven by Steven Beleno, 26, of Blooming Grove, NY, veered off the roadway after allegedly being cut off by another vehicle. The car traveled down an embankment, prompting a response from emergency crews.
Beleno was evaluated by emergency medical services (EMS) and transported to Nyack Hospital for treatment. During the investigation, officers observed signs of impairment, leading to his arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Authorities reported that Beleno was uncooperative, refusing to provide a sample to determine his blood alcohol content (BAC).
Following his medical treatment, Beleno will be required to report to the State Police Haverstraw barracks at a later date for processing. The incident remains under investigation.
