UPDATE – 2:50PM: Stony Point Police Confirm Four Suspects in Custody After Fiery Crash, No Further Threat to Community

The Stony Point Police Department has issued a statement regarding today’s major incident, which began around 12:30 p.m. when police and neighboring agencies responded to reports of suspicious activity near Mott Farm Road, Kelly Court, and Route 9W.

The situation escalated when the suspect vehicle crashed, igniting a fire that required a response from local fire departments. As of now, four suspects have been taken into custody, and authorities have confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the community.

Residents who may have witnessed any suspicious or criminal activity in the area are urged to contact Stony Point Police detectives at 845-786-2422. Further details will be provided as they become available.

A high-speed chase in Stony Point ended in a fiery crash after a vehicle, suspected of stealing mail from a mailbox on Mott Farm Road, led police on a pursuit reaching speeds close to 100 mph, according to witnesses who spoke to Monsey Scoop.

The chase concluded when the vehicle crashed and erupted in flames. The suspects fled on foot, prompting an extensive search. Three suspects have since been apprehended and are now in police custody. However, police believe that at least one additional suspect remains at large.

Law enforcement agencies, including Stony Point Police, New York State Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, Haverstraw Police, Ramapo Police K-9 unit, Rockland County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit, NYS Park Police, and Stony Point Fire Department, are actively involved in the search for the remaining suspect.
