New York State Police have released additional details regarding the high-speed pursuit and crash that occurred on Sunday, May 11, 2025, on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Rockland County.
At approximately 12:06 p.m., troopers from State Police Haverstraw responded to assist in a vehicle pursuit that had entered New York from New Jersey. The incident involved a 2024 Subaru reported stolen to the Scranton Police Department. The pursuit was initially led by the New Jersey Palisades Interstate Parkway Police and continued northbound into the town of Clarkstown.
New York State Troopers joined the chase at Exit 7. The vehicle, occupied by three individuals, reached speeds exceeding 100 MPH and traveled approximately two miles before troopers lost sight and terminated the pursuit.
Moments later, the vehicle was discovered off the roadway near the Exit 8E ramp of Route 59, having crashed into a tree in a densely wooded area. The vehicle had also caught fire following the crash.
The driver, identified as a 15-year-old juvenile from Scranton, PA, sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody. He was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital for treatment. The two additional occupants were not charged.
The teen was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the 4th Degree (Motor Vehicle), a Class E felony. He was later released to a legal guardian and issued a Family Court Appearance Ticket.
Multiple emergency and law enforcement agencies responded to the scene, including the Clarkstown Police Department, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, West Nyack Fire Department, Nanuet EMS, and Rockland Paramedics.
