Unveiling Ceremony to Rename Lydecker Street in Honor of Fallen Nyack Police Officers

On Friday, October 20, 2023, at 2 PM, Nyack Village Hall (9 N Broadway, Nyack, NY 10960) will host a significant event, renaming Lydecker Street to “P.O. Brown & Sgt. O’Grady Street” in memory of two Nyack Police Officers who tragically lost their lives on October 20, 1981.

This renaming ceremony precedes an annual event at the Route 59 and Mountainview Rd intersection (the entrance to the New York State Thruway) scheduled for 4 PM. Chief Robert Van Cura, former South Nyack Police Chief and current Rockland County Undersheriff, will lead the ceremony, and the public is welcome to join the families of the fallen officers in paying tribute.

Please anticipate temporary road closures and traffic delays in the area during these events.
