UNHINGED: Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon Fires Village Treasurer Amidst History of Anger Issues

In a dramatic turn of events, Spring Valley Mayor Alan Simon fired Village Treasurer Gregg Smith on Wednesday afternoon. Sources tell Monsey Scoop that the mayor’s actions were accompanied by a heated confrontation, during which he allegedly screamed at two employees from the treasurer’s office. As a result of this outburst, two village employees were taken to the hospital for panic attacks.

Mayor Alan Simon has a history of volatile behavior. Reports indicate that he has previously thrown objects and yelled during village board meetings, with his anger issues being described as extreme and abnormal.

This recent incident is not the first time Mayor Simon has made controversial decisions regarding village personnel. Not long ago, he fired Spring Valley Police Chief Richard Oleszczuk, albeit only for a day.

Monsey Scoop notes that a village treasurer is a public officer serving a term and, as such, is entitled to their salary. There is no state authority that permits a village mayor to suspend a village treasurer without pay. This raises questions about the legality of Mayor Simon’s actions in this matter.

  1. If he will continue to be paid as the article indicates, who foots that bill? Us???? After all a replacement needs to be paid as well. Or will he be reinstated?
