Tragic Motor Vehicle Crash Claims Pedestrian’s Life in Ramapo

On Monday, July 24, 2023, at approximately 11:45 pm, the Ramapo Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Route 17 in the Town of Ramapo. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a pedestrian had been hit by a 2008 Ford F150 pick-up truck. Tragically, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene.

According to the preliminary investigation, the Ford F150 was being driven by a 62-year-old male resident of Sloatsburg, NY, who was traveling northbound on Route 17. The pedestrian, a 32-year-old male resident of Sloatsburg, was struck by the vehicle and sustained fatal injuries. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and is fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.

The Town of Ramapo Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit is currently handling the investigation.
