Tragic Fatal Crash on NYS Thruway in Ramapo Claims Life of 24-Year-Old Woman

A tragic single-vehicle crash occurred Sunday afternoon, June 15, on the southbound side of NYS Thruway, near Exit 14A in the Town of Ramapo, resulting in the death of a young woman from Middletown, NY.

At approximately 3:25 p.m., New York State Police from the Tarrytown barracks responded to the scene after a 2016 Honda Civic veered off the roadway for reasons still under investigation. The vehicle exited the highway via the right shoulder and struck a tree.

The driver, identified as 24-year-old Anysah P. Nelson, was found in traumatic arrest. Emergency personnel from Faist EMS, Hatzoloh EMS, the Suffern and Tallman Fire Departments, and New York State Police quickly responded. She was transported to Nyack Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. Chevra Kadisha services weren’t needed in this incident.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation in Haverstraw is continuing the investigation and is asking anyone with information to call (845) 344-5300.
