TRAGEDY: Montebello Father Reb Eliyahu Fink Z”L Struck And Killed On Garden State Parkway {LEVAYA INFO}

A devastating tragedy unfolded early Friday morning as Reb Eliyahu Fink Z”L, a 43-year-old father of 3 from Monsey, was struck and killed on the Garden State Parkway.

Reb Eliyahu, z”l, was the son of Rabbi Aaron Fink, a respected longtime mohel and the founder of Ateres Bais Yaakov. Rabbi Fink established the school 25 years ago and currently holds the title of Dean Emeritus.

According to New Jersey State Police, the fatal accident occurred just before 1 a.m. on the northbound lanes near milepost 146.5 in Essex County. Troopers arriving at the scene found R’ Eliyahu Z”L lying in the roadway, gravely injured and unresponsive. Despite immediate emergency response efforts, he was sadly pronounced at the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest that R’ Eliyahu Z”L had been involved in a minor accident before the fatal collision. Sources tell Monsey Scoop that he had exited his vehicle following a fender bender when he was struck by at least two oncoming vehicles. Both drivers remained at the scene and are cooperating with authorities as the investigation continues.

State police have yet to determine the precise circumstances leading to the incident. The highway was temporarily shut down as investigators worked through the night to piece together the details of the tragic event.

UPDATE: The Levaya for R’ Eliyahu Fink A”H will take place at 12 PM on Sunday at 19 Olympia Lane, Monsey, NY 10952. Following the Levaya, the family will travel for the Kevura to Israel. Adina Schonfeld, Gila Spira, and Yisrael Fink will begin sitting Shiva after the Levaya at 9 Roble Road, Suffern, NY 10901 through Tuesday. The entire family will be sitting Shiva at 17 Coe Farm Road from Wednesday until Shabbos. Shacharis through Tuesday will be at 7:00 AM, with Mincha and Maariv at 7:00 PM. Details for Minyan times at 17 Coe Farm Road will follow.

  3. Please, I would appreciate if someone could give me the phone number and address of the family. I have begun a חםד program of delivering cakes and candies to the יתומים every ערב שבת.
    Please note I always contact the family to be certain this is okay.
    The יתומים must have at least a small smile on their faces as the family brings in שבת קדש. Everything has absolute proper hashgacha.

    PLEASE help me have the זכות of this very important חסד for the יתומים.
