Tractor-Trailer Overturns on Route 17 in Tuxedo Near Rockland County Border

Emergency personnel responded Tuesday morning to a serious crash on Route 17 in Tuxedo, near the Rockland County border, after a tractor-trailer traveling northbound overturned around 9:30 a.m. near Warwick Brook Road. Authorities say the truck skidded across the southbound lanes, striking a red minivan and pushing it onto nearby rocks, before spilling trash across the roadway.

Tuxedo EMS, Tuxedo Fire Department, Tuxedo Police, and the New York State Police were all on the scene. At least one person sustained minor injuries and was treated by EMS.

The crash caused significant traffic disruptions, with drivers initially using the shoulder to get by and detours put in place via Long Meadow Road. Cleanup crews worked to clear debris, and Route 17 has since fully reopened.
