Town of Ramapo Police Department Receives AAA Platinum Award for Community Traffic Safety

The Town of Ramapo Police Department has been honored with the prestigious Platinum Award for Community Traffic Safety by the American Automobile Association (AAA). This recognition is part of the AAA Community Traffic Safety Awards Program, which celebrates communities that demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing local traffic safety for all road users.

The AAA’s Safe System Approach, which guides the program, focuses on five key areas: safer people, safer roads, safer vehicles, safer speeds, and post-crash care. The Platinum Award is the highest accolade granted by AAA, underscoring the Town of Ramapo’s dedication to these critical safety objectives.

In addition to the community award, AAA also acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to traffic safety. This year, Sergeant Bakker of the Town of Ramapo Police Department was recognized with the AAA Hero Award for his exceptional efforts in this area. Sgt. Bakker, who leads the Special Operations squad, oversees the Traffic Unit, Community Policing Unit, DARE Officers, and School Resource Officers.

Both the Town of Ramapo and Sergeant Bakker’s accomplishments highlight the department’s ongoing efforts to ensure safer roads for all residents.
