This morning, the Town of Ramapo took a significant step toward enhancing the safety of its schoolchildren by hosting a school bus safety event at the Ramapo Town Hall. The event, organized by the Community Outreach Center, was attended by a large number of local school bus drivers eager to learn and share best practices for ensuring the safety of their young passengers.
The event featured an impressive lineup of speakers, including Supervisor Michael Specht, Ramapo Police Chief Daniel Hyman, and Rabbi Hersch Horowitz from the Community Outreach Center. Several members of the Ramapo Police Department Community Policing Unit also spoke, alongside an educator specializing in school bus safety from the East Ramapo School District.
Throughout the morning, attendees were provided with crucial safety tips and had the opportunity to watch videos of local incidents, which underscored the importance of vigilance and adherence to safety protocols. The interactive sessions allowed bus drivers to discuss ways to collectively improve safety measures, ensuring a safer environment for the children of Ramapo.
Supervisor Michael Specht emphasized the town’s ongoing commitment to safety, stating, “Our goal is to provide continuous support and resources to our local school bus drivers. By working together, we can significantly enhance the safety of our children.”
Rabbi Hersch Horowitz highlighted the collaborative spirit of the event, adding, “It’s heartening to see so many dedicated individuals come together for such an important cause. The safety of our children is paramount, and today’s event is a testament to our community’s dedication to this mission.”
The Town of Ramapo is looking forward to hosting more events focused on driver safety and is committed to creating a safer environment for all residents and visitors. This morning’s event marks a positive step forward in ensuring that school bus drivers are well-equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to protect our community’s children.
