The Town of Ramapo on Friday afternoon honored retiring Detective Margaret “Peggy” Braddock during her final walkout, marking the close of an extraordinary career dedicated to public service and justice.
Detective Braddock served the residents of the Town of Ramapo with distinction for 25 years, concluding a 33-year career in law enforcement. Over the decades, she held numerous critical roles within the department, including Field Training Officer, Police Instructor, and Intelligence Officer, helping to shape and mentor generations of officers.
Throughout her career, Detective Braddock was directly involved in several high-profile investigations, ranging from kidnappings and homicides to white-collar crimes and an attempted murder plot. Colleagues and community members alike credit her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to justice—qualities that had a lasting impact, particularly on crime victims and their families.
Beyond her investigative work, Braddock is also known for her dedication to honoring fallen officers. An avid bicyclist, she participated in the Police Unity Tour ten times, raising more than $30,000 in support of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and Museum in Washington, D.C.
As Detective Braddock enters retirement, town officials and fellow officers expressed confidence that her positive influence will continue well beyond her years in uniform.
