The Town of Ramapo formally honored Brewer Fire Engine Co. No. 1 (Monsey Fire Dept) on Wednesday night, presenting the company with a Certificate of Recognition for their extraordinary actions during two highly technical rescues carried out on the morning of May 12, 2025.
The honor follows last week’s praise after Monsey firefighters successfully saved two workers in separate, complex rescue incidents just hours apart. As reported by Monsey Scoop, more than 30 members of Brewer Fire Engine Co. No. 1 (Monsey Fire Dept) responded to the emergencies, utilizing rope systems, specialized technical-rescue equipment, and seamless coordination to safely extract and save both victims.
During Wednesday night’s Town Board meeting, Supervisor Michael Specht and the Ramapo Town Board commended the company for its exceptional professionalism and lifesaving skill. Supervisor Specht told Monsey Scoop that “thanks to the heroic and coordinated efforts of the more than 30 firefighters who worked seamlessly to perform highly technical rescues, the two victims survived.”
Town officials noted that the recognition highlights not only the heroism shown that morning but also the rigorous training and dedication that define Brewer Fire Engine Co. No. 1 (Monsey Fire Dept).
The certificate was presented before an audience of families, supporters, and community leaders, underscoring the community’s deep appreciation for Monsey’s firefighters and their unwavering commitment to saving lives.
