Town Of Ramapo Holds First Pre-High Holiday Security Meeting with Community Leaders and Law Enforcement

The first Pre-High Holiday Security Meeting in the Town of Ramapo was held today, bringing together community leaders, elected officials, and law enforcement to discuss preparations and security measures for the upcoming High Holidays. The meeting took place at the Ramapo Council Room and was attended by key figures, including Town Supervisor Michael Specht, Deputy Supervisor Brendel Logan, as well as Chief of Police Daniel Hyman.

The gathering, organized by the Ramapo Police Department, featured presentations from Special Operations Lieutenant Blaine Howell and representatives from the FBI-Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF), Special Agent Michael Andretta and Detective Omar Olayan, who briefed attendees on security protocols and situational awareness ahead of the High Holidays.

In his opening remarks, Supervisor Michael Specht emphasized the importance of community cooperation and vigilance, expressing gratitude for the ongoing partnership between local authorities and residents. Chief Dan Hyman outlined the Ramapo Police Department’s plans for heightened patrols around houses of worship and residential neighborhoods, noting that the High Holiday period is often a time when communities become more vulnerable to certain crimes, such as burglaries.

“Ensuring the safety of our community is our top priority, especially during this sacred time,” said Chief Hyman. “We are increasing patrols to provide a visible law enforcement presence in areas where large gatherings are expected.”

The Ramapo Police Department also assured the community that enhanced security measures will be in place to support the peaceful observance of these religious events.

The meeting with participants reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for all during the upcoming High Holidays. Special recognition was given to Joshua Hans, Director of the Town of Ramapo Office of Emergency Preparedness and Safety, for his efforts in coordinating the security preparations.

Community leaders praised the proactive approach taken by law enforcement and urged residents to remain alert, reinforcing the shared responsibility of maintaining safety during the holidays.
