The Town of Ramapo has announced major progress on multiple sidewalk and drainage projects across the community, with more than two miles of new sidewalks already completed in 2025.
One of the largest undertakings has been the Carlton Road project, stretching from College Road to West Maple Avenue. This follows earlier work along West Carlton Road from College Road to the rear entrance of the Highview Hills development, significantly improving pedestrian access and drainage infrastructure.
Prior to that, contractors completed curb, sidewalk, and drainage upgrades on Cragmere Road from Yorkshire Drive to Campbell Avenue, adding a half-mile of new walkway. Lenore Avenue also saw improvements from Suzanne Drive to the end of the road, covering one-third of a mile.
Work is currently underway on Orchard Street between Saddle River Road and Route 306, where new curb and sidewalk construction is in progress.
Looking ahead, the Town plans to extend these efforts throughout 2026, with sidewalk and drainage projects scheduled for Maple Terrace, Grove Street, Roberts Road, Smolley Drive, Neil Road, Calvert Drive, and Campbell Avenue.
Town officials say these improvements are part of a continued commitment to enhancing safety, walkability, and infrastructure throughout Ramapo neighborhoods.
