The Town of Ramapo has announced an expanded cardboard box pickup schedule aimed at improving sanitation services and reducing roadway congestion.
Michael Specht, Supervisor of the Town of Ramapo, announced that effective January 5, cardboard boxes will now be collected twice weekly in the unincorporated areas of the town, with pickups scheduled for Wednesdays and Fridays.
Residents are reminded that all cardboard and garbage materials must be placed curbside by 5:00 a.m., as collection routes will begin earlier than usual in an effort to minimize traffic disruptions throughout the town.
Town officials emphasized that aside from the increased box pickup frequency, all other sanitation services will remain unchanged.
The enhanced schedule is being implemented in coordination with Interstate Waste Services and is expected to provide residents with improved convenience, particularly amid increased packaging waste.
Residents are encouraged to follow all placement guidelines to ensure timely and efficient collection.

The Town of Ramapo has missed the most important reason why garbage pick up takes so long and causes congestion. People don’t collapse the boxes down. (kids can do it) The garbage men have to literally go back and forth multiple times to get a dozen open boxes. Also the boxes go flying around and making driving conditions very dangerous. I wish people cared about their actions and that they have consequences. Collapse boxes and only put out the night before.
I absolutely agree I have experienced doing the cardboard pick up in Ramapo and people don’t collapse the boxes or bundle them which causes the cardboard to blow all over the roads making driving more dangerous and causing unnecessary obstacles to get around also making it harder for the crews to work and move more efficiently again I am speaking from experience of working in Ramapo
For the record these guys at Interstate Waste Services work hard to make it happen just need the community to help by bundling and breaking down cardboard
Both of you are missing the point. Yes, there are open boxes as well as collapsed boxes flying all over the road. That is mainly because of the wind and because the boxes are supposed to be bound. However the reason it takes so long is because of all the extra traffic and the hundreds of school buses driving all over unincorporated Ramapo. They literally are all over, stopping every other house. Keep on allowing the constant overbuilding and it will only get worse.
As for tying the boxes u people probably have maybe 1 or 2 boxes
People with large families could have over a dozen . And some boxes r not foldable which makes it very difficult and an extra burden on the as is harried parents
We can all operate razors like my 82 year old dad and expedite box collection. It’s a kiddish HaShem to show the Garbagemen we appreciate what they’ve do and are reciprocating however we can to make their job easier.
They didn’t take my boxes today
I cut up all my cartons folded and put into 1 big box everybody has time to do that instead of watching whatsapp statuses and other shtussim
