The Town of Ramapo and the Village of Spring Valley have announced progress on the Elm Street area intersection project following a productive follow-up meeting with representatives from MJ Engineering, the firm responsible for the initial traffic study of the intersection at Anthony Drive, Elm Street, and Union Road. This key intersection lies on the border between the Town of Ramapo and the Village of Spring Valley.
The meeting, which took place in the office of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, was attended by Supervisor Specht, his Chief of Staff Mona Montal, Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Israel Eisenbach, Spring Valley Trustee Asher Grossman, representatives of MJ Engineering, and senior members of the Ramapo Police Department. During the meeting, the engineering team addressed questions from municipal officials and discussed the project’s scope in detail.
As a result, Supervisor Specht, Deputy Mayor Eisenbach, and Trustee Grossman agreed that both the Town of Ramapo and the Village of Spring Valley will jointly fund the project, pending approval from their respective boards. The officials also requested MJ Engineering to submit a proposal for survey and design work related to the planned improvements.
The proposed project will include the installation of a traffic light at the intersection and the realignment of Anthony Drive to improve traffic flow and enhance pedestrian and motor vehicle safety. Since the meeting, MJ Engineering has submitted its proposal, which is currently under review by both municipalities. The proposal is expected to be presented for approval at upcoming Town and Village board meetings.
