In a continued effort to improve traffic safety and efficiency in Ramapo, local officials met today to discuss actionable steps for addressing ongoing concerns at the intersection of Union Road, Elm Street, and Anthony Drive. The meeting, hosted by Town Of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht and Ramapo Chief Of Staff Mona Montel, was attended Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Yisroel Eisenbach, Spring Valley Trustee Asher Grossman, Ramapo Highway Superintendent Fred Brinn, Ramapo Police Chief Dan Hyman, Ramapo Police Lieutenant Blaine Howell, and Ramapo Police Sergeant Christopher Rogers, was marked by a productive exchange of ideas and a commitment to swift action.
The discussion centered around a completed engineering study, which has already been reviewed by all parties involved. The study highlighted significant issues at the intersection, including frequent accidents and heavy congestion during peak hours. Based on these findings, officials explored potential solutions, including additional suggestions from Spring Valley representatives that will be further evaluated by the town’s engineering team.
A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for next Wednesday, where all parties, including the engineers, will reconvene to finalize plans. The officials emphasized their dedication to moving this project forward and achieving tangible results as quickly as possible.
Town Supervisor Michael Specht told Monsey Scoop, “I want to extend my deepest thanks to the Village of Spring Valley, our dedicated police department, the highway department, and especially my Chief of Staff, Mona Montal, for their unwavering support and collaboration on this project. We are fully committed to doing everything necessary to get the ball rolling and ensure these critical improvements are made as soon as possible.”
Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Yisroel Eisenbach echoed this sentiment, telling Monsey Scoop, “This meeting was a significant step forward. We appreciate the Town of Ramapo’s initiative in addressing these concerns, and we are confident that, together, we will see real progress in resolving the issues at this intersection really soon.”
Spring Valley Trustee Asher Grossman also expressed gratitude on behalf of the village, saying, “We thank the Town of Ramapo for their leadership and dedication to this project. Additionally, the conversation touched on concerns regarding the Morris Road and Union Road intersection, with plans to integrate solutions for this area into the broader traffic improvement project.
