The Town of Haverstraw Police Department has announced the retirement of Sergeant Brian Block, marking the conclusion of a distinguished 29-year career in law enforcement.
Sergeant Block began his policing career on December 17, 1997, when he was appointed as a New York City Police Officer. He served with the NYPD for five years before continuing his career closer to home.
In October 2002, Block was hired as a Police Officer with the Village of Greenwood Lake, where he served in Patrol and as a Field Training Officer. On May 14, 2004, he joined the Village of Haverstraw Police Department, later continuing his service following the merger with the Town of Haverstraw Police Department on January 1, 2006.
After more than a decade of dedicated service in Haverstraw, Block was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on May 15, 2018, a role in which he provided leadership and mentorship to fellow officers.
The Town of Haverstraw Police Department expressed its sincere gratitude to Sergeant Block for his professionalism, commitment, and years of service to the community, and extended best wishes to him and his family as he begins his retirement.
