The Town of Clarkstown announced that more than $261,000 in code enforcement fines were collected in 2025, marking the highest annual total in the town’s history.
Supervisor George Hoehmann said the fines reflect the town’s continued commitment to enforcing local laws and safety standards. The Town Attorney’s Office prosecutes violations in justice court, where fines can reach tens of thousands of dollars, while severe or hazardous cases may be escalated to State Supreme Court.
“Clarkstown continues to enforce our code and safety standards across the town,” Hoehmann said. “If you violate our laws, we will hold you accountable. I want to thank our code enforcement officers and Town Attorney team for their diligent work to protect our neighborhoods.”
Town Attorney Kevin Conway noted that the town has prioritized aggressive enforcement actions, including cases involving illegal occupancy, residential overcrowding, rental registry noncompliance, and zoning violations—resulting in record fines.
Looking ahead to 2026, Clarkstown plans to expand both its code enforcement staff and Town Attorney resources to further strengthen enforcement efforts.
Residents who are aware of potential code violations are encouraged to report them through the town’s MyClarkstown 311 app or by contacting the Building Department at 845-639-2100.
