Three New Measles Cases Detected in Rockland County After Resident Returns From Abroad

Rockland County health officials have confirmed three new cases of measles, all connected to a resident who recently returned from international travel, according to County Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Leahy.

The first case was identified on Thursday, October 23, after the traveler tested positive for the virus. County officials say that two known contacts of the individual have since become infected, prompting renewed concerns about community exposure.

Health officials are urging residents to verify their immunity to measles, most commonly through vaccination. Anyone unsure of their immunization status is advised to contact their healthcare provider.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
