In a ceremony that marked a new chapter in the legal administration of Rockland County, three judges and the Rockland County Commissioner of Jurors were sworn in on Thursday afternoon at the Rockland County Courthouse Central Jury Room.
The induction ceremony, which took place on January 18, 2024, at 2:00 pm, was attended by esteemed members of the legal community and local officials. The event was officiated by Hon. Rolf M. Thorsen, Justice of the Supreme Court, who administered the Oath of Office.
Among the dignitaries present, Hon. Francesca Connolly, Associate Justice of the Appellate Division Second Department, administered the Oath of Office to Hon. Larry J. Schwartz, Justice of the Supreme Court. Hon. William K. Nelson (Ret.) was entrusted with the honor of administering the Oath of Office to Hon. Anne Bianchi, Westchester County Court Judge, introduced by Suzanne Berger, Esq.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the swearing-in of Hon. Christopher J. Exias as the new Rockland County Family Court Judge. Hon. Joseph A. Zayas had the privilege of administering the Oath of Office to Judge Exias, who was met with enthusiasm and support from the local community.
Village of Spring Valley Deputy Mayor Yisroel Eisenbach shared his sentiments about Judge Exias, stating, “This was an especially exciting experience for the Village of Spring Valley as Judge Exias, who was sworn in today, was a prior judge in our village.” He continued, “It is with mixed emotions that I came especially to wish him well as he goes forward on a new journey in life as a family court judge.”
The ceremony also included the swearing-in of Sabrina E. Vargas-Greco as the Rockland County Commissioner of Jurors, with the Oath of Office administered by Hon. Christopher J. Exias.
The event concluded with closing remarks by Hon. Anne E. Minihan, J.S.C., Administrative Judge of the Ninth Judicial District, followed by a closing song.
