After 65 years of dedicated service, the Thiells Fire Department has reached a major milestone, responding to more than 300 emergency calls in a single year. In 2025, the all-volunteer department handled 314 incidents, marking a 49-call increase over 2024 and reflecting a growing demand for emergency services in the community.
The department’s 2025 responses included 36 structure and FAST responses, 16 brush fires, 24 water and ice rescues, 6 vehicle extrications, 11 vehicle fires, and 65 mutual aid responses to assist neighboring communities. In addition to fires, crews were called to a wide range of emergencies, showcasing the department’s broad operational role and readiness.
As a 100% volunteer fire department, Thiells FD says it is always looking for new members to join its ranks.
