Thiells Fire Department Conducts Electric Vehicle Fire Safety Training During Weekly Drill

The Thiells Fire Department held its weekly drill at the David B. Roche Volunteer Firehouse, where members participated in a specialized electric vehicle (EV) awareness training.

The session was led by New York State Fire Instructor John Checo, who focused on the unique hazards and complexities associated with EV fires, including battery risks and suppression challenges.

Officials noted that this type of training is increasingly important as electric vehicles become more common. The department expressed appreciation to Schultz Ford for providing electric vehicles used during the hands-on training exercise.
