Absolutely insane dash cam footage from Monsey shows a van driving onto the sidewalk in a reckless attempt to cut around a school bus that was stopped with its yellow flashers on, preparing to open its stop sign and pick up two children.
The horrifying incident unfolded on Remsen Avenue near Dolson Road, where two young boys stood waiting on the corner. With almost no space between the bus and the curb, the van jumped the sidewalk, sped past the bus, and came inches from killing the children.
In a split second that likely saved their lives, the boys jumped backward as the van flew by, missing them by mere inches.
Authorities tell Monsey Scoop that this type of reckless and dangerous behavior will not be tolerated, and the driver will be tracked down and held accountable.

This driver should be arrested
And beaten.
Mesira!!
What about V’Nishmartem M’oyd?
no it’s not he needs to learn a lesson
Learn the halacha and then post
at lease loss his license forever. He shouldn’t be on our roads
The way I (bus driver) see it. Van started to pass bus illegal, we don’t know if bus driver turned on his yellow lights. Bus turns into other lane as some drivers do (illegal) when they pick up on opposite side of road or he tried to block van, not his job. At that point Van couldn’t stop any more due to speed, his choice was to hit bus or do what he did (instinct). I doubt he even saw boys on the sidewalk. DOT laws as we think they are stupid, there is a reason for them. Chain reaction, van passed double yellow lines (illegal) bus moved in the opposite lane (Illegal). Bottom line children have to be educated by Mosdos and parents, not my job, not to step off curb till the driver signals them to do so.
Van and Bus driver should be reprimanded. Correct me if you think I’m wrong.
The kids weren’t on the road
While it is true that it is illegal to block the road while picking up children, law enforcement will generally not fault the bus driver, since his goal is the safety of the children. Bus drivers will angle themselves across the road because of drivers like this van driver.
Absolutely!! He is a dangerous driver.
That’s a very incorrect reaction and caption – if you analyze the video, you will notice that the bus was driving at around 28mph when the van started passing it, legally! (After the median double yellow line ended). Then – with a van in the process of passing it – the driver stopped and swerved to the left (likely intending to “block” the way like many school buses do – instead of waiting for the passing van to complete passing), leaving the driver no choice but to swerve in order to avoid a collision!
Only then, does the bus turn on his red lights!
@True Remarks (Maybe false remarks…) Legally??? Look at the second video where the driver of the van begins passing by crossing the double yellow line, which is ILLEGAL. Secondly the driver of the van was going ABOVE the speed limit in order to pass, which is, again, ILLEGAL
It is not legal to pass on a double solid yellow line, even if the lines break for an intersection. Even when it is legal to pass it has to be started and finished before the double solid yellow lines.
The driver of the van is a criminal. Pls track him down and arrest him. What kind of sick individual does this
Talk about having no respect for others and tge law. Nothing is that important that he has to pas a school bus. Puck up m and drop offs don’t take very long. Road rage is @ it’s highest. In a rush to go nowhere. Hopefully he’ll be caught and jailed.
The yellow line doesn’t break. It was open for an intersection.
The median double lines only stop at that spot for an intersection–it doesn’t become a broken median line which would indicate that passing is permitted. It was illegal.
Yellow lights on a bus mean to slow down — not to cut someone off and almost kill two children
It looks like the driver of the van lost control after trying to pass….
If you watch the first video you can see the wheels giving out smoke which means the driver lost somewhat control. althuogh he should’nt have done it!
He lost control because he did what he did…. it’s like excusing a drunken driver by saying he lost control…..
I’m sure HaShem will handle this measure for measure. If he did nothing wrong, he has nothing to worry about. However, if he was clearly in the wrong and almost seriously wounded or worse, l”r, two cheder boys, then the same can happen to him. Everything is subject to this – middeh kenneged middeh – no one can hide from it. If the driver is truly remorseful, then the strict judgment can be tempered with mercy.
