Tallman Fire Department Shifts Focus, Decides Against Hiring Paid Assistant Fire Chief

The Tallman Fire Department has opted not to proceed with hiring a paid assistant fire chief, a move that had been under consideration earlier this year. Monsey Scoop previously reported that the department was exploring the possibility of becoming the first fire agency in Rockland County to create this position.

However, a department attorney has since indicated that priorities have shifted. The department is now focusing on assessing the number of firefighters it needs to hire. This evaluation is part of a comprehensive “needs assessment” that the department aims to finalize before adopting its budget in November.
