Tallman Fire Department Members Participate in Hands-On Medevac Training with Faist EMS

Members of the Tallman Fire Department participated in a comprehensive medevac training exercise Monday evening alongside William P. Faist EMS, giving both agencies the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of air medical operations and enhance coordination during critical emergencies.

The training began with an in-depth classroom presentation covering when a medical helicopter should be requested, how those decisions are made, what EMS crews can expect at the scene, and the safety procedures required around an active landing zone. Members also learned about the coordination and teamwork required to ensure critically ill or injured patients receive rapid transport to advanced medical care.

The highlight of the evening came when a Hackensack University Medical Center medevac helicopter landed at the training site. Participants were able to tour the aircraft, meet the flight crew, ask questions, and gain firsthand insight into the specialized equipment, procedures, and responsibilities involved in air medical transport.

Faist EMS thanked the Tallman Fire Department for hosting the training and the Hackensack flight crew for sharing their expertise, calling it an invaluable educational experience that gave members a unique opportunity to learn beyond the classroom.
