Tallman Fire Department Conducts Ice Water Rescue Drill at Kathryn Gorman Park in Montebello

On Monday evening, the Tallman Fire Department (Department 20) conducted a hands-on ice water rescue drill as part of its weekly training program, focusing on critical cold-water emergency skills.

The drill emphasized rescuer self-rescue techniques in icy conditions, along with the safe removal of victims from ice water—skills that are vital during winter emergencies on frozen ponds and waterways. Firefighters trained under realistic conditions to reinforce safety, teamwork, and rapid response.

The department extended its thanks to the Village of Montebello for permitting the use of Kathryn Gorman Park as the training location.

Residents interested in volunteering with the Tallman Fire Department are encouraged to stop by the firehouse on Mondays at 7:00 p.m. to learn more about joining the department and serving the community.
