An arrest connected to a recent shooting in Spring Valley took place yesterday on Saddle River Road near the intersection of Margetts Road, directly in front of the Slice and Spice Pizza Shop and The Ridge Steakhouse Mall. Witnesses reported a car speeding down Saddle River Road, closely pursued by multiple law enforcement vehicles. Authorities boxed in the vehicle at the corner of Margetts Road, stopping traffic as they conducted the arrest.
In a coordinated operation, officers from the Spring Valley Police Department, the FBI, and the NYPD approached the vehicle, forcibly opening the doors to apprehend the driver and passengers. Three suspects were detained at the scene, and the vehicle was subsequently towed.
The Spring Valley Police Department has now confirmed that the arrests are linked to an earlier shooting incident in Spring Valley. According to a press release from Chief Richard Oleszczuk, on October 26, 2024, at approximately 5:52 a.m., Spring Valley Police responded to a report of gunshots at 25 South Main St., where they found an injured victim bleeding on the sidewalk. Officers rendered aid before the victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound.
Through their investigation, detectives identified 30-year-old Tywan St. Philippe, a Spring Valley resident, as the suspected shooter. On October 30, 2024, officers from the Spring Valley Police Department, alongside the FBI’s NY Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, located and apprehended St. Philippe. A firearm was also recovered during the arrest.
