Suffern to Conduct Fire Hydrant Flushing This Week; Residents May Notice Temporary Water Discoloration

The Village of Suffern will be conducting routine fire hydrant flushing this week at several locations throughout the village as part of ongoing maintenance to ensure the safety and reliability of the water system.

The scheduled flushing will take place at the following locations:

  • Wednesday, July 22: Orange Avenue & Lafayette Avenue; Antrim Avenue & Lafayette Avenue
  • Thursday, July 23: 35 Park Avenue; 117 Washington Avenue
  • Friday, July 24: 143 Doxbury Lane; Cypress Road

Village officials advise that residents in the vicinity of these locations may temporarily notice sediment or discoloration in their water while the work is being performed. If this occurs, residents are encouraged to run their cold water until it clears before using it.

Officials said the hydrant flushing is a necessary maintenance procedure to help ensure the safety and reliability of the village’s water system.

Residents with questions can contact the Village of Suffern Water Department at 845-357-0950.
