Suffern Police Promote Andrew Yorke to Detective Sergeant, Julio Veras to Detective

At the Village of Suffern Board Meeting held in mid-May, Mayor Michael Curley and the Village Board announced the promotion of Sgt. Andrew Yorke to Detective Sergeant and Police Officer Julio Veras to Detective.

Detective Sergeant Yorke has served in the Suffern Police Department’s Detective Bureau for the past five years and has played a pivotal role in numerous high-profile investigations, including cases involving burglaries and robberies. He is also an investigator with the Rockland County Intelligence Center, contributing to major countywide investigative efforts. Yorke is a graduate of the NYPD Homicide Investigators Course and holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminology & Investigations from West Virginia University.

Detective Veras joined the Suffern Police Department in 2021 following his service with the NYPD, where he was assigned to the Strategic Response Group. He currently serves as a SWAT operator with the Rockland County REACT team and holds a bachelor’s degree in Forensic Science from CUNY John Jay College.

The Village of Suffern extended its congratulations to both officers, recognizing their dedication, expertise, and commitment to public safety as they take on their new roles.
