A coordinated multi-agency response led to the swift apprehension of a stabbing suspect on Friday evening, following a violent incident at Joey’s Crystal Car Wash on Rockland Terrace and South Street in Suffern.
At approximately 7:00 PM on July 25, Suffern Police officers were dispatched to the scene, where two individuals had been stabbed. Responding officers rendered aid to the victims and launched a preliminary investigation. One of the victims reportedly sustained serious injuries. Authorities confirmed that the suspect and victims were known to each other.
Law enforcement from several agencies quickly responded to assist, including the Ramapo Police Department, Mahwah Police Department, Rockland County Intelligence Center, FBI NY Westchester Safe Streets Task Force, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.
Thanks to the close proximity, Mahwah Police Officers Joseph Alvarez and Ryan Moore arrived promptly. Shortly after, Mahwah K9 Officer Sean Hayes and his partner, K9 Rino, successfully tracked the suspect nearly 200 yards through a wooded area along the Mahwah River, where the suspect was located and taken into custody without further incident. Rino also located a weapon believed to have been used in the attack, which was recovered at the scene.
The suspect was turned over to Suffern Police. The investigation remains ongoing, and charges are expected to be filed following its conclusion.
Suffern Police expressed appreciation for the assistance provided by partner agencies, stating, “We are grateful for the rapid and professional support from the Ramapo Police Department, Mahwah Police Department, and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office. Their efforts played a critical role in bringing this incident to a swift resolution.”
Authorities have emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the public. As always, all suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
