The Suffern Fire Department is mourning the loss of Ex-Chief and Volunteer Hose Company No. 1 Life Member Louis Scriba, a respected firefighter, leader, and United States Navy veteran whose decades of service left a lasting impact on the department and the community.
Scriba served as Captain of Volunteer Hose Company No. 1 from 1977 to 1978 before being elected the 47th Chief of the Suffern Fire Department, a position he held from 1981 to 1983. Throughout his years of service, he was recognized for his dedication to the department and his commitment to protecting the residents of Suffern.
In addition to his fire service, Scriba proudly served in the United States Navy.
The Suffern Fire Department extended its condolences to Scriba’s family, friends, and all those who had the privilege of serving alongside him, asking the community to keep them in their thoughts during this difficult time.
